About Summer Camps
Spend your summer at The Nelson-Atkins! ย
Participate in art classes taught by Ford Learning Center instructors, make newย friendsย and enjoy fun-filled learning activities led by camp counselors to round out the day. In these weeklong camps, campers will be inspired by theย museum'sย collectionย to create their own artworks. ย
To ensure a positive experience for everyone,ย campersย must have prior experience in a classroom setting, be fully potty-trained, and meet the age requirements for the camp in which they are enrolled. Campers who do not meet these requirements may be asked to withdraw until they are eligible toย participate.ย If you have questions or concerns about age eligibility or readiness, please contact us via email.
Schedule
Students willย participateย in art classes, taught by Ford Learning Center instructors, from 10:00 am โ Noon and 1:30 โ 3:30 p.m. each day. ย Other learning and social activities, planned and led by camp counselors, will complete the day.
Lunch
Lunch is not provided. Pleaseย sendย campersย with a nut-free lunchย with a cool pack to keep it fresh.ย Water bottles will be provided by theย museum. Campersย with severe allergies should bring their own EpiPen and know how to administer it to themselves.ย If your child has special dietary needs, please provide their snacks for each day.
Safety and Supervision ย
Campers will spend the day accompanied byย Nelson-Atkins Camp Assistants. All instructors and staff have undergone extensive background checks. Our team is committed to collaborating with families to encourage andย maintainย a safe and enriching experience for all campers. If a camper exhibits behaviors that put them or other campers at risk or that significantly disrupts the classroom environment, parents will be informedย immediately. In certain situations, a child mayย be requiredย to leave the program without a refund.ย
Notes
This journey around the world introduces campers to global art, artists, and cultures to inspire their own drawing, painting, and printmaking. Using theย museumโsย collection, campers will travel across Asia, Europe, and North America to study ancient and modern civilizations.ย
