Spencer Reference Art Library

Join curator Aimee Marcereau DeGalan and library staff for an engaging conversation exploring architect and designer Owen Jonesโ€™s pivotal book, The Grammar of Ornamentย (1856), and its far-reaching impact on Art Nouveau. Presented in conjunction with the museumโ€™s exhibition Timeless Muchaย (April 18โ€“August 30), this program examines how Jonesโ€™s influential design principlesโ€”drawn from global decorative traditions and grounded in harmony, proportion, and beautyโ€”shaped the visual language of Art Nouveau and inspired a network of artists, architects, and movements that continue to resonate today.
