Name
Night/Shift at the Nelson-Atkins
Description
Thursday, May 30 | 5–9 p.m. | Free General Admission
Something’s about to shift at the Nelson-Atkins. Kansas City’s creative community is remixing the museum experience for Night/Shift — a free evening of creative encounters that spotlights local talent among the 5,000 years of art and innovation in the museum’s collection.
Night/Shift occurs a few times a year and always promises new experiences. Headlined by DJs, visual artists, and live performers, each night features a fresh combination of pop-up projects, interactive demonstrations, artmaking, and unexpected ways of exploring the museum.
Inspired by the exhibitions Niki de Saint Phalle: Rebellion and Joy, A Layered Presence/Una presencia estratificada, and Melissa Shook: To Prove that I Exist, this inaugural Night/Shift amplifies ideas of self-empowerment and creative defiance. Take a cue from our featured artists and the art on view to ask yourself “What if…?” then see where it takes you.
