Join us to celebrate the vibrant cultural and artistic expressions of Native Americans, featuring the Haskell Indian Nations University Dancers, Young Buffalo Horse Singers, and Bad Alaskan.

 

Performances:  

Haskell Indian Nations University Dancers & Young Buffalo Horse Singers 

11 a.m.–12 p.m. & 2–3 p.m. 

Kirkwood Hall, Nelson-Atkins Building 

Diverse styles of Native American dance performed by students from Haskell Indian Nations University. More than 150 Native cultures are represented in the student body of Haskell Indian Nations University, Lawrence, Kansas. Drumming and singing from the Young Buffalo Horse Singers. Young Buffalo Horse was formed in March 2010 in Shawnee, Oklahoma. The group was and still is composed of members from many different tribes from all over the United States.  

 

Bad Alaskan 

12:30 p.m.–1:30 p.m.  

Kirkwood Hall, Nelson-Atkins Building  

Enjoy a special selection of Bad Alaskan's meditative dance & poetic works. Composed of synth-based electronic music with ambient Indigenous roots. Alex Kimball Williams is the artivist (artist+activist) behind the Bad Alaskan project.
